We’re half way through May!  This month was kicked off with our annual Grade 6 vs. WES Staff floor hockey game on May 4th.  All the grade six student who participated in floor hockey had the chance to play a game against the staff, who have a grade 5 student tending goal for them.  Everybody had lots of fun but the staff kicked our butts 5-1!

Five Safety Patrol Students were chosen to attend the annual CAA Safety Patrol Jamboree in Regina.  Ivy Bacudio, Matthew Christensen, Zach Magnusson, Aaron Mozel and myself were accompanied by parent Chaperones to attend the event. We had lots of fun for three days in Regina, visiting the RCMP Heritage Museum, The Royal Museum, Government House, and the Science Center.  We also went glow bowling and swimming and attended a fun science show called Funtasm!  We met the Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan, Her Honour Vaughn Solomon Schofield, and had our pictures taken with her.  We learned a lot and made some new friends.  Thank you to Ms. Ramler for making the trip possible!

Many of our students made crafts and cards for their Mom’s for Mother’s Day.  Mrs. Chorney’s Grade 2 class went all out and organized a Mother’s Day Tea at the school for their moms.  They performed songs, poems and dances and presented their moms with gifts they had made.  This was all followed by tea and cupcakes!  We hope that all of the aWESsome moms of our community had a wonderful day.

Mr. Fisher announced that the new students and grade 1 students had been assigned to their track and field houses.  The four houses are the Pacers, T-Birds, Firebirds and Mustangs, these are the teams that students play for on Track and Field Day.  The team you are chosen for is the house that you will be a part of for all of your time at Wynyard Elementary School, it is exciting to find out what team you and your friends will join.  And, the teams are always happy to welcome their new members by introducing them at their house meetings.

Our SCC provided another delicious hot lunch of chicken fingers and carrot sticks.  And later in May they will be holding the Annual SCC AMAZING Race.  Stay tuned for all the exciting details!
