Subject:Saskatchewan Roughrider visit to GGEC

The Saskatchewan Roughriders have gained some new fans and reading has gained new fans also.
The Grade 5 class at George Gordon Education Centre participated in the Rider Reading Month school literacy program. The goal of the program is to encourage reading. The class committed to reading 15 minutes a day for the month of March. Our Grade 5 was one of the grand prize winners of the player visit.

On Tuesday, April 19th, Brendan LaBatte # 57 for the Saskatchewan Roughriders visited our school. First he visited the Grade 5 class and read aloud to them. We then held a school wide assembly where Brendan spoke to the students, answered questions and held an autograph and photo op session.

After that, the Grades 5 to 8 went outdoors and played some football! Thank you to the Roughrider organization for sponsoring this program and congratulations to Mrs. Bugghins and the Grade 5 class who once again proved that reading pays off!!
