Subject:Buckshot and Blossoms at Winston High

It’s time, for a show like no other, a show that’s got it all, guns, cowboys, gambling, scheming, poisoning, heart attacks and a dramatic shoot out. It’s the Winston High’s production of Buckshot and Blossoms, a twist on the ideal western.

Mar 21st, 22nd, and 23rd the Winston High drama program put on an explosive show full of western mayhem. This year the story was set in the old west, the Arrizona Territory to be exact. A crooked hotel owner causes trouble for the town of trail dust (Mitchel Toews) with his business partner, the gambling Pearl of the Pecos (Caroline Seidlik). But there’s a new Sherriff in town named Johnny Wright (Damien Webber) who plans to uncover all the hidden mischief in the town. Let’s not forget the crusading Miss Annabelle (Meagan Stokke) who preaches the idea of flowers instead of guns. One can only imagine the reaction from all the gunslingers. The play is full of twists and turns, schemes and deceiving and all together a good old hoot and a half.

This year the age variety brought on a lot of diverse performances, all together bringing a delightful and entertaining show. Always a huge thank you to the directors, Mr. Bells, Mrs. Lucas and Mrs. Westby. A shootout to all the backstage help with props, prompting, lights and sound. Hats off the whole gang.
