Bringing in December

With the beginning of December the holiday season is shortly followed. The SRC once again put on the annual roast a hot dog hot lunch. The kids get to roast a hot dog over a fire, receive hot chocolate and intermingle high school and elementary! It’s a favorite all the way through Kindergarten to staff members, plus a hit with the SRC as there are minimum dishes and a ton of fun.

Along with the Christmas season, curling season is beginning. LeRoy school has entered one junior team into a league in Humboldt. They play every Tuesday and have seen progress in the few games they have already played; so go out and cheer on the junior curling team! Our senior curling team will be looking at some practices before pre-districts!

LeRoy school is hard at work planning our annual Christmas Concert, which will be held on December 17th at 7:30. The students are working on songs, plays, and additional musical pieces to present to family and community members, come out and experience a great night of Christmas celebration! Along with the concert the SRC and SCC will be putting on a Christmas feast for students and immediate family that night also! Look forward to hearing more about what LeRoy School will be doing to close out the final week of school before the break…

See you later 2015!

The last week of school before the Christmas break is always one of the busiest, most fun, and heartwarming times of the school year! The SRC always plans a Christmas themed spirit week, with days such as green and red day, ornament day, and formal day. This year the SRC and SCC decided to have a free Christmas supper for all of the students and their families. On the night of the Christmas Concert the SCC and SRC plus volunteers from the community served a full turkey meal to a formally dressed gym full of families! It was a successful night.  The day showed that as a small school we work together like a family to put on anything. Preceding the supper the students put on a fabulous Christmas concert with many moments to make you laugh and to warm your heart! The last day went as usual with the younger students playing games in the gym and the high school going out to play hunters tag. Then we all settled into the gym on mats with our blankets to enjoy the classic movie “How the Grinch Stole Christmas.” The final Friday is always a blast and the Christmas spirit is high.

The Christmas spirit is and will always be more about giving than receiving… LeRoy School students learned to give to others who may not have what others do. Throughout December, the students were challenged to bring in non-perishable food items. The results to this were HUGE and together as a school we rounded up nearly 900 cans. Along with food we asked for donations for the white elephant sale, with generous donations, the students had lots of choice to shop from!  Overall with the things donated we created hampers and gifts for families around LeRoy to provide them with all they need for at least the next couple months. It makes your heart warm , fill with pride and happiness from the response we had; brings tears to the eyes of people in need, knowing our small but mighty school and community are always behind them…
