Hello, June is finally here.  June is a very busy time at Wynyard Elementary School because it is the last month of school.  WES had many exciting activities and fun days in June.
One of our best and most exciting activities in June is our track meet.  On this day Grades 2-6 get to participate in track activities and win points for their house team.  If you succeed a high in a track activity you get a red ribbon and five points for your team.  A medium is a blue ribbon and three points for your team.  A low is a white ribbon and one point for your team.
Some of the sporting events WES students participate in are:  long jump, high jump, ball throw and races.  One of my favorite parts of the day is the relay races.  Each year we race every boy and girl from each grade.  Once we have the two fastest boys and the two fastest girls from each grade of your house team you race them.  The fastest in long and second fastest is the short race.  It is lots of fun cheering for your team members.
The end of the day is not about who wins or loses, it is about the fun you have and the memories you make.  But without further ado, I would like to congratulate the Mustangs with fourth place, the Fire Birds with third place and the T-Birds with second place and the PACERS for getting first place in the 2015 track meet.
One of the sad but exciting things that happened was our Grade 6 grad.  The grade 6 classes said their final farewell.  The farewell was both a sad and exciting event.  We wish our grade six friends good luck for their next journey at WCHS and hope they have a good future.  The grade 6 classes prepared speeches for one another to tell students, families and parents their memories, long and short term goals, and their achievements while they have been in Wynyard elementary.  I would like to congratulate my peers Emily Mamer and Jesslyn Leibel for achieving the good citizenship award.  I am so grateful to also have been one of these recipients.  These students have demonstrated outstanding skills at school and have been great leaders.  Along with the awards, each student was gifted a $25.00 award for personal use and a $25.00 donation to use towards a charity of their choice.  Way to go girls!
At the end of the year at our big assembly students were given recognition for all of their hard work and activities.  Everyone is excited to get going and into summer activities.  I would like to congratulate all of the students who earned well-deserved awards.
Sadly, this is the end of my time as the reporter for WES.  I hope everyone has a great summer and I look forward to hearing about the adventures at WES next year.
