Subject:FLCHS attends Canada Wide Science Fair
Last week, three students from Foam Lake Composite attended the Canada Wide Science Fair (CWSF) in Fredericton, New Brunswick. Beth Springer, Emma Fedusiak, and Mary Hoover, placed top three in the Parkland Regional Science Fair held annually at FLCS. The girls then worked hard to polish their projects and displays for the level of competition anticipated at the national fair. During the week, the students participated in a days full of judging, public viewing, science-focused activities, bus tours to the Bay of Fundy, and lectures from science experts. At the end of the week, CSWF held an awards ceremony which awards almost a million dollars in cash and scholarships to the students. Foam Lake Composite was proud to, once again, bring home an award and cash prize. Emma Fedusiak earned a bronze medal for her project “Is Vaccinating an Udder Misteak?” which studied the effects of an anthrax vaccination on the conception rates in cattle. This places her in the top 0.05% of science projects across the country. CWSF is always an amazing social and academic experience for students and teachers. Congratulations to Beth, Emma, and Mary, on your accomplishments!
