Subject:TLS Students’ Place Silver at High School Business Case Competition

Ashley Demers and Grayson Berting, Grade 12 students from Three Lakes School, placed second at the High School Business Case Competition held by the Saskatchewan Business Teachers’ Association. The event took place at the University of Regina, starting on Thursday, April 30 and ended on Friday, May 1. Seventy-two high school students from across Saskatchewan and Manitoba attended the event. The students’ objectives included deconstructing either an entrepreneur or personal finance case and then presenting their solutions to the given problem three hours later in front of a number of judges in teams of three. There was also a social aspect to the event where students had to compete in a lip-sync battle.

All of the competing students had to complete the Introduction to Business 30L university class from the Edwards School of Business in their grade 12 year. The top students were then chosen to compete in Regina. Ashley and Grayson completed the course online in their first semester through Kenaston School in SunWest School Division. Their placing at the event resulted in each of them receiving a scholarship of $1500 a year for four years geared towards their future education. Ashley and Grayson will be attending St. Peter’s College in the fall for their first year in the Edward’s School of Business.
