Subject:WE DAY At FLES
To:
The Foam Lake Elementary School grade 6 class attended We Day on November 7, 2014, at the SaskTel Center in Saskatoon.  We Day is an annual “youth empowerment” event organized by Free the Children charity. We Day is held in many cities across Canada and the United States. We Day started with the founders, two brothers, Craig and Marc Kielburger.  We Day is an invitational event.
The class learned a lot from all the speakers. Some of the speakers were: Spencer West, Captain Phillips, Marc and Craig Kielburger, and so many more.  Two important things we learned were anyone can make a difference, and that you have to believe in yourself.
Some students’ comments about the day included: “It was really fun!”  “We got to see lots of amazing people!” “It was awesome!” “It was such a good show!” and “I liked Captain Philips the best as he talked about his journey when the pirates took him on their ship.”
The grade six class learned so much about making a difference and are hoping they will get to go to We Day again. It was such a great experience and everyone loved it.  The grade six class is currently planning what their local and global activities. They are excited to see how they can be “changemakers!”
