Our welcome to November was a greeting of cold and snow.  Sadly, winter is on its way and there is no stopping it.  The children at Wynyard Elementary are having a blast building snow forts, snow men and other exciting activities.  Please remember there is a school rule of no throwing snow or ice while on school property.  We do not want anyone to be injured by accident.
The Wynyard Elementary Remembrance Day Ceremony was held in the gym on November 7.  Students and staff were proud to show their respect for those who fought for our freedom and peace.  The service began with the singing of “O’  Canada”.   Students from the SRC were involved in speaking at different times during the service.  We partook in a laying of the wreaths ceremony.  Several classes showed their respect by giving small performances of poetry and songs.  We remembered those who gave their lives for us. During the afternoon, WES was entertained by a performance of “Tommy Goes to War”.  This was a story about a young man and his journey with the army and life.  As a gift, WES received their very own peace tree!
Parent/Teacher interviews were held on November 19 and 20.  We also had a chance to enjoy the Book Fair at this time.  There was a large variety of books to choose from, such as adventure, friendship and sports.  The grade six girls completed shifts at the poster and school supply counter.  There were also several books for gifts and for adults.  The money raised will go to benefit the school.
The grade six class was able to participate in a workshop called Recess Guardians.  They learned many games that they can do when the weather is too cold to go outside.  The guardians will be identified by a bright yellow t-shirt.  The grade six students will be the leaders assisting other classrooms with activities.  Look forward to more information in the new year.
I hope everyone had a lovely month of November.
