Hello!  Welcome to my second report in October.  I would like to start off by saying thank you to everyone that donated to the new rink and took part in the duct tape activity.  Each student chose to bring $1.00-$5.00 for one piece of duct tape to tape our brave principal to the gymnasium wall.  Well, it turned out that poor Mr. Fisher was trapped in a net full of tape.  There was no way he could get out easily.

All of WES Halloween fun began in the afternoon.  Children were to change into their costumes at lunch.  At one o’clock, WES walked to the food bank and dropped off as many items of food as we could.  Each child chose to bring as many items as they wished.  We were able to donate 251.32 pounds of food which is 113.99 kg!
We also showed off our costumes to the town.  We then returned to the school to have our own fun parade in the gym.  This year, Wynyard Elementary’s SRC has chosen to have a costume contest.  Prizes will be based on scariest, funniest, cutest and most original costume.  The judges were Mrs. Waite, Mrs. Stephanick, and Mrs. Jones.

Reduce, Reuse and Recycle!  I hope your child enjoyed waste reduction week.  We had a litterless lunch and many other activities.

Another fun item to mention, although your child may have told you about them already – we had the band Speed Control come to the school.  They are from the Yukon and taught WES about the history of Rock Music.  They told fun stories, had cool contests and brightened up everyone’s day.  We all left school with a smile on our face.  Thank you to them.

I hope that you have all had a good October!
