Welcome back to a new school year at WCHS. We are already kicking it into high gear. I would like to welcome all the students and staff back as well as the Grade 7's that joined us this year. On Wednesday September 24th we had our annual Terry Fox Run. As usual we joined together with the Elementary School and did the walk altogether. As a school we raised $5757 and as a community we raised over $9000. It was a tremendous amount as our goal was only $4000. While everyone was collecting their pledges there was a challenge going on. If our school raised $4000 Mr. Peterson and Mr. Leibel would shave their heads. Little did the students know that Mrs. Froehlich also agreed to this but only if 90% of the students handed in their pledge forms.  I would say we definitely exceeded our goal. The shaving of their heads took place on Thursday the 25th by the top three fundraisers which were Michelle Burko who shaved Mr. Peterson’s head, Julie Bartoshewski who shaved Mrs. Froehlich’s head and Jessie Froehlich who could not be there that day but the next top fundraisers were Shelby Proznick and Vada Magnusson who shaved Mr. Leibel’s head. Now we will head into what has been a fantastic start.....

FOOTBALL. On Friday September 12th the bears took on Cupar Wildcats. The Bears came out on top with the final score 78-33. Their next game was Friday September 19th in Lanigan.  The final score was 56-15 for the Wynyard Bears. Their third game was played in Wynyard against Southey. The final score of that game was 44-24 for the Wynyard Golden Bears. The juniors have participated in three jamborees. One in Foam Lake, Watrous and they hosted one in Wynyard. The next home game for your Wynyard Golden Bears is Thursday October 9th at 4pm. The defending 2A six man provincial champs (Watrous Wildcats) will visit George Lamb Field for the first time.

Sofina employees will be out to conduct a food drive to promote awareness of Wynyard's Local Food Bank. Football fans please bring a non-perishable item to the game and get in for half price. The Bears football program will donate the other half to help support our local food bank. Let's all work together to tackle hunger! Monetary donations will also be gladly accepted.

Congratulations to all the cross country runners and the golf members! They did amazing at regionals and districts good luck in provincials. Congrats to both volleyball teams. The tournament team got 2nd in their tournament in Warman and did very well in their tournament in Foam lake. This team is coached by Mrs. Storzuk. The league team won their first two games. The first one against Foam Lake and the second one against Wadena. On Tuesday, the 30th they play Kelvington at WCHS.

This year we are still continuing with magazine sales. All students are encouraged to sell some subscriptions. Good luck WCHS!

Starting on Monday September 29th to Friday October 3rd we have spirit week. On Monday it was PJ day and Tuesday is Rainbow day. On Wednesday it is superhero/super villain day. You are supposed to dress up as your favorite superhero/supervillain. Thursday is blue and gold day in support of the Bear’s football game in Cupar. On Friday it is Retro Day. You are encouraged to dress up as your favorite century. It is also pizza lunch on Friday.

Well, that's all that has gone on for September. We are looking forward to lots more to come at WCHS.
