Imperial Cougars Repeat as Division Champions
The Imperial Cougars are Flag Football South West Division Champions.  The team, comprised of boys and girls in grades 7 - 9, began their season in early September and when league play had ended in early October had amassed a record of 6 and 1, and as a result captured first place in their division and the right to host the south west division final.

A beautiful day greeted the Cougars and their opponent, the Holdfast Pacers, on Thursday, Oct. 15th. An early interception return for a touchdown gave Holdfast the lead but the Cougars fought back with a touchdown of their own and the first half ended Cougars 8 Pacers 6.  The teams continued with the  hard fought battle with the offenses being able to move the ball up and down the field but the defenses digging in when it counted near the goal lines and the score remained low. Early in the fourth quarter Holdfast broke free on the outside of the field and scored to take the lead 13 - 8.  As time wound down the Cougars marched down the field on some great throws and catches, and late in the game the Cougars replied with a touchdown of their own to take the lead 15 - 13.  Holdfast had possession of the ball one more time but the staunch Cougar defense held on a third down gamble and took possession of the ball for the last three plays of the game and came out with an exciting 15 -13 win and repeated as division champions in flag football for the fourth year in a row.  Way to go Cougars!!

The team would like to thank all the parents, staff, students, and community members who came out and cheered them on this season and would also like to thank the volunteer student referees and head referee Mr. Walker for donating their time to our program, for without them we would not be able to play.

See you at Cougar Field next year for another exciting season of Jr. Flag Football.
